What to Do For a Family Day Out

When planning a family day out, it can be hard to choose something which will please everyone. It may seem as though every member of the family has different tastes, so it can be hard to keep everyone happy. For most families, it seems as though there are two different options to make the day go smoothly: take turns to pick a different day trip, alternating from week to week, or pick a family day out which has something for every member of the family.
Mums Many mums love to shop till they drop, but this may not be the standard idea of fun for the rest of the family. However, if you choose to go to a shopping village, there will be plenty of different types of shop, all in one location, so there should be something to appeal to everyone. If children in the family are slightly older, everyone could be given a budget as part of their day and sent off to go to the shops that they want to visit, rather than being forced to visit the shops that don't interest them. Meet up for lunch and compare purchases.
Dads Many dads like to take a long country walk, and then relax in a local pub. Some even like to cut out the walk section and just spend the day relaxing in a warm and friendly environment! Sampling local ales in a cosy pub may be the perfect way to unwind after a week at work. There are plenty of pubs with outdoor spaces for children to enjoy.
Teens Teenagers often enjoy the opportunity to go off on their own, as they try to assert their independence. If you are trying to plan a day out "together", it is a good idea to go somewhere which is large enough for your teens to be able to explore by themselves, but somewhere which is small enough for you to be able to periodically meet up. If you have room in the car, let your teen take a friend for company and everyone will enjoy the day more.
Young Children Young children love animals and organised fun. Educational games are also great. Take them somewhere where they can see and touch native farm animals, and learn new things from educational toys. Most of the time, your children will be having so much fun, that they won't even realise that they are even learning.
Toddlers Although you may feel a little uncomfortable about leaving the youngest members of the family, many attractions now have specialist day nurseries which are staffed by fully qualified childcare experts. Despite any apprehensions you may have, your toddler will enjoy them self much more if they are allowed to play with other children their age instead of being dragged round somewhere else all day.
Whether you decide to each pick a weekend each, or if you decide to go somewhere that has something which would appeal to everyone, it is important to make time for yourselves and for each other.
